Harvard’s David Edwards on “Creating Things that Matter”

What does it mean to be creative? Or to create something meaningful?

These are the questions we explored at today’s club meeting with speaker David Edwards, a renowned innovator and writer, professor of Idea Translation at Harvard University, and pioneer of the international movement of “artscience.” Edwards’ inventions and startup companies touch on healthcare (inhaled insulin, and antibiotics for TB), food (his companies Incredible Foods and Sensory Cloud) and sensory experience (his company oNotes).

From the power of the creative process to the skills required to solve thorny problems on the frontiers of modern science, Edwards shared some of the principles of creativity and specific examples of how he’s putting his inventiveness to work to better our health and our planet.
