Biography: Dr. Andrea Shane is Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine and Medical Director for Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
She joined Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University in 2006 after completing an Epidemic Intelligence Service fellowship at the CDC and a Pediatric Infectious Disease fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
In her role as Marcus Professor of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control, she serves as the Medical Director of Hospital Epidemiology for Children’s, collaborating with the Children’s infection prevention and industrial hygiene teams.
Dr. Shane has broad experience in the field of pediatric infectious disease, including the prevention and management of diarrheal disease, neonatal sepsis, vaccine effectiveness, and the applications of probiotics to infectious disease prevention and mitigation.
In addition, she is committed to the care of children who are infected with special pathogens and to working with children’s hospital preparedness teams.
Biography: Dr. Colleen Kraft is associate chief medical officer at Emory University Hospital, associate professor of infectious diseases and assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Emory University School of Medicine. Governor Kemp recently appointed Dr. Kraft to his Coronavirus Task Force and will participate in development and implementation of the State of Georgia’s response to this outbreak. She is the associate medical director of the Serious Communicable Diseases Unit at Emory, where the four Ebola patients were successfully treated in 2014, and she played an integral role in the treatment of those patients. She is the co-PI on the National Ebola Training and Education Center, which serves as a training and educational resource to healthcare workers combating serious communicable diseases. Dr. Colleen Kraft remains a key Emory and community leader and subject matter expert in serious infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance.
