THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
MARTHA and WILTON LOONEY were inducted into the Arch C. Klumph Society, of the Rotary Foundation, which honors donors who give at least US$250,000. Martha is a Polio survivor who now suffers from Post Polio Syndrome and was unable to join us Monday. However, their daughter, Sylvia DicK, and Sylvia's daughter, Allison, picked Wilton up and home and came to the meeting with him.
Past District Governor Robert Hall talked about how important irraticating this terrible disease is for the world. A few years ago it was reported that we were just about there when an outbreak occured. Robert and his wife, Charlene, participated in an immunization day in India a couple of years ago.
One article published by Rotary International told of a student went home to Pakistan to visit family before going on to Australia. Shortly after his arrival he was diagnosed with Polio. The title "One Plan Ride Away from Polio". Today this POLIO SURVIVOR has joined the campaign focused on ENDING POLIO.
Through MASSIVE IMMUNIZATION CAMPAIGNs we hope to see this disease eliminated from the world. As President Bill Nordmark, also a Polio survivor, expressed, no child should have to endure the taunting of other children or the fear of the unknown involved in the treatment.
