PAULA D. MOHAN
CEO, SOUTH ATLANTIC DIVISION
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
On behalf of her sponsors, John Seffrin, Bob Turknett and myself I am pleased to introduce Paula Mohan, Chief Executive Officer of the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division as a new member of our club.
Paula’s career with the American Cancer Society began in 1983 as the Regional Executive Director in the Colorado Division has taken her all over the country. She moved to California in 1990 where she was the Regional Executive Director for the San Francisco Bay area. In 1995, she became the Senior Vice President for Operations in North Carolina and continually progressed with the South Atlantic Division until in May 2009 when she was named its Chief Executive Officer.
The South Atlantic Division is headquartered along with the National organization, in the American Cancer Society Center on Centennial Olympic Park.
As CEO of the South Atlantic Division, Mohan leads the American Cancer Society’s largest Division with annual revenue of 115 million dollars. The Division represents constituents in Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Paula’s leadership was evident when she reorganized the Division in August of 2009 by eliminating redundancies (including 10% of the Division’s currently filled positions) in order to position the Division for future success and the achievement of the mission. Because of her leadership, the South Atlantic Division remains not only our largest division but also one of the most financially sound Divisions nationwide-what she likes to call a “lean mean cancer fighting machine”.
