2012 BERT ADAMS INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AWARD
The Atlanta Rotary Club's award for International Service is named in honor and memory of Bert Adams who was one of the first members of the Atlanta Rotary Club. He was also the only member of our club to have the distinction of serving a Rotary International President, which he served in 1920. He was also one of the community leaders who brought the Rotary International Convention to Atlanta in 1917. This convention was significant since the Rotary Foundation was formed during this convention. It is through the Rotary Foundation that Rotary International does good in the world.
The Bert Adams International Service Award is presented annually to the member of the Atlanta Rotary Club who has performed outstanding voluntary service in carrying out the fourth object of Rotary, which is International Service.
This year's recipient has only been a member of Atlanta Rotary for a few years, but he has been a Rotarian at heart for his entire life. He has the ability to encourage and inspire others and is a great example of a servant leader. While he has many accomplishments in the business world and is recognized for his contributions to the local community, his legacy will be felt for generations to come in the Agalta Valley of Honduras.
We are pleased to present this year's Bert Adams International Service Award to BOB HOPE. |
